Age: Must be 21 years+

We are looking for a Content Researcher who can produce 800 to 1000 words per content. We
offer a competitive rate of Rs.400 to Rs.500 per content along with subtitles based on
experience and content quality.

Who we are?

SOUL is a non-governmental organization passionate about bringing holistic change to
deprived people. SOUL focuses on education, livelihood, health, and hygiene to drive
positive change. We work in the islands of Sundarban, surrounding districts of Kolkata,
and among marginalized people in Kolkata. We are 7 years old and a small group of people
with common values to usher in economical and social changes.

So far, we have educated more than 70 girls. SOUL has made children healthier, stopped
malnourishment, and improved BMI. We have driven behavioral changes in hygiene and
lifestyle over thousands of ‘Adivasi’ brothers & sisters across villages in Sundarban.
We have carried out multiple relief works during natural calamities. As of now, We have
distributed more than 7 lakhs of free food plates to eradicate hunger.

What is the nature of the work?

The government has created a good basic education system today. However, once the
students finish elementary education, their awareness of higher education and related
career options is low. There is an information gap today that not only exists in the
Sundarban but among all rural parts of West Bengal.

Hence, we are looking for a content research specialist in the education & livelihood
sector. The job would be 90% desk-based role with 10% of travel required to the SOUL
Kolkata office and occasional travel to Sundarban Island.

The objective is to counsel, assist and motivate rural kids on various career options and
related higher education to go for post-schooling. The content researched would be made
into short videos and socialized via an online and offline medium with thousands of
students.

What would make you succeed in this role and with SOUL?

Create content in Bengali (80% of the cases) & English (20% of the cases) for lay man’s
audience on the various opportunities for students after 10thor 12thclass

Familiar with policies and schemes of the Central govt. & State govt.

Past research experience and a good understanding of higher education, technical
education, career options for the bottom of the pyramid, etc.

Post doing research, develop content strategies, and create content for both print and
digital media. Must work closely with SOUL operations and marketing teams to ensure that
the content is engaging and consistent across all media platforms

Minimum Goal: the creation of 3 videos content per week

Calls for a good command of the Bengali language both spoken, written, and read. Open to
do the voice on the videos

Passionate of bringing social change, self-driven, great team worker, and willing to go
beyond key responsibilities and undertake additional tasks to support SOUL’s
transformational journey.

At least 1 year of experience in the same field of content development will be added
advantage for the post.

Project Proposal Writing: Craft comprehensive and persuasive proposals
for various NGO projects, ensuring they align with potential funders’ guidelines and
priorities.

Progress Report Writing: Prepare detailed progress reports for ongoing
projects, showcasing achievements, addressing challenges, and outlining future plans
to keep stakeholders well-informed.

Research and Analysis: Perform in-depth research to back project
proposals, including needs assessments, beneficiary impact evaluations, and
sustainability strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with project teams and external
partners to collect necessary information and ensure proposals and reports reflect
organizational goals and meet donor expectations.

Documentation and Compliance: Guarantee all proposals and reports adhere
to internal standards and external regulatory requirements, and manage a repository
of submissions and feedback for ongoing improvement.

Note: The candidate will not be limited to these responsibilities and may
be required to undertake other assignments as needed by the organization.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in NGO project proposal and progress report writing,
    backed by a portfolio of successful funding applications.
  • Proficient in both native Bengali and English.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within the
    non-profit sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a must, MSW or equivalent qualification is preferred.
    Candidates residing within Kolkata are preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present information clearly and
    concisely.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for project research and stakeholder
    meetings.
  • Exceptional writing and editing capabilities, with meticulous attention to
    detail.
  • Robust organizational skills, capable of juggling multiple projects at once.
  • A team player with outstanding communication skills.
  • A deep understanding of the non-profit sector and funding environment.
  • Dedication to SOUL’s mission and values, with a strong commitment to making a
    social impact.
