On 21st May 2018, our children met with the officer in-charge for Gobardhanpur Coastal Police Station to greet him on his birthday and thank him for the services he has provided for our community. The officer educated the children about laws of our country. They were shown how the police force operates and briefed about the basic duties of a policeman. He made them aware of the various crimes happening in the area, why they’re happening and how they can protect themselves against criminals. By calling 100, they could seek help in an emergency or report any miscreants. Child marriage, child abuse, domestic violence were the center of discussion as a whole. The children were awed by the officer’s knowledge and bravery. They felt inspired to become a part of the police force in the future too, so they could also protect their community and instill peace and safety. The officer guided them on how they could achieve their dream, by attending school regularly, by being devoted to learning what they’re taught, by making their friends and family aware about the need and importance of education by being diligent and punctual. They were presented with an opportunity to deliver their own views and woes on the working of their society. These children are the next generation of our community and them being aware of issues affecting our society is essential for development of people and their mind set. At the end of the day, sweets and snacks were shared while the children sang birthday wishes for him and prayed for his health and a prosperous life ahead. The visit was worthwhile and the children had a day filled with fun and knowledge.
