The Green SOULs initiative was launched in response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Remal, which destroyed the natural tree barriers that once protected the vulnerable communities of the Sundarbans. To safeguard the region from future disasters, it is critical to restore these trees as swiftly as possible.
The Green SOULs program is focused on a large-scale plantation drive in the Sundarbans. However, our efforts go beyond just planting trees—we are committed to nurturing and monitoring their growth for the next 365 days, ensuring that the trees thrive and continue to provide protection and sustainability for the community.
You can be part of this vital mission by gifting a tree in the name of each family member. This creates a meaningful memory while contributing to restoring the natural shield of the Sundarbans. Your gift will not only help protect communities but also leave a lasting legacy of environmental stewardship.
We have already planted 1,000+ neem trees in strategic locations across the Sundarbans, including river embankments and village streets. Neem trees are known for their high oxygen output, antiseptic properties, and natural resilience against domestic animals. They also require minimal care, making them ideal for providing shade, clean air, and natural protection.
Beyond protective trees, the Green SOULs program supports agro-farming by providing fruit-bearing trees and seasonal vegetable plants to households in the Savar tribe and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). This initiative helps diversify income sources for families by offering trees like banana, guava, and orange, as well as seasonal vegetable plants. The agro-farming aspect ensures that these communities not only benefit from environmental restoration but also achieve sustainable livelihoods.
The Green SOULs initiative is aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG):
By planting trees, we help combat climate change and restore ecosystems affected by natural disasters.
Our reforestation efforts support biodiversity and help protect ecosystems in the Sundarbans.
By providing agro-farming trees, we offer an additional source of income to economically disadvantaged families.
initiative by gifting a tree to help restore nature and protect communities. Your contribution will play a crucial role in rebuilding the natural defenses of the Sundarbans, ensuring that both people and the environment thrive for generations to come.
